The Good

Party Poker, today part of the world’s largest publicly traded online gambling company, has been shuffling up and dealing since 2001. PartyPoker became famous due to the skillful marketing during the early days of the popular World Poker Tour series. The show’s main host Mike Sexton endorses the card room to this day.

Players living outside the US will be able to enjoy poker games at one of the most known online poker rooms today. Due to US legislation Party poker does not accept American players. Although Party was the best place to play online poker when they accepted US players, they are still going strong, with 9,500 real money players connected during peak hours.

One of the world’s largest poker websites, PartyPoker com offers some of the best bonuses you can find online today. Their in-house loyalty program is available to all players and basically allows winning more money even after the initial deposit bonus is cleared. Freerolls, both with playthrough requirements and without, run daily and award as much as $3,000-$5,000 each. If you don’t have an account yet, you can make a Party Poker download now through a link on this site and enjoy these great offers.

The Bad

This Party Poker review would be incomplete without acknowledging some shortcomings of this otherwise excellent online operator.

The software is nothing out of the ordinary. Of course, all the standard features are there (a choice of table felt colors and alert sound schemes, time bank for tournaments, four color deck for improved visibility etc). However, many card rooms today offer a better variety of options in their poker clients. You won’t find as many ‘bells and whistles’ when you play PartyPoker compared to playing elsewhere. Also, there is no downloadable client for Mac users.

Banking/Customer Service
Party Poker offers a wide range of banking options: VISA, MasterCard, Paysafe card, eps,WebMoney, Bancontact Mister Cash, iDeal, Laser card, Click & Buy, Click2Pay, Giro pay, ukash, Przleway24, DirectPay24, my citadel wallet, Poli, eWire, Electronic Transfer (UsemyBank ,Switch/Solo/Maestro, Moneybookers, EntroPay, Neteller, bank wire transfer, bank transfer.

Party Poker also has 24/7 telephone support which is great being as there are hardly any other online poker rooms that offer support via telephone. You can also contact them via email, or check out the FAQ section as there is a slew of information here.

Customer support isn’t always as efficient as players would like. Staffed primarily with foreigners, PartyPoker support can be disappointingly difficult to deal with, especially if a player’s first language isn’t English. It’s usually easier to get questions answered via email instead of live chat or a phone call.

Software
Party Poker has sleek software, which runs swiftly and securely. Party had a massive makeover to the software in September 2008, and with it came cleaner graphics, customized player avatars, and a live action preview. The software allows for up to 12 tables playable at a time and does so without many glitches. The lobby is resizable and very easy to navigate. From here you can also preview a table or search for a quick seat table. It is also compatible with Mac, Linux, and Windows. If you haven’t played Party in awhile don’t be alarmed by the new look. Give it a few tries, it won’t take you long to get used to it.

Competition

Traditionally, many new players start to learn poker after watching a televised tournament. Party Poker has attracted crowds of amateur poker players; there are also many casino gamblers crossing over from its sister website bwin. You are certain to find quite beatable opponents here, possibly some of the weakest players you have competed against, live or online. Party Poker makes sure to keep customers coming back with the generous promotions and bonuses; generally, players who return because of such promotions are the ones who generate the most action.

We are not saying, though, that you shouldn’t take advantage of the promotions. By all means, go ahead and enjoy the deposit bonus or the loyalty program while you play Party Poker. Just be sure to remember to play solid poker and not take excessive risks just because ‘it’s free money’. Remember that bonus money is just as good as cash; after the bonus is cleared, it can be played again, or cashed out.

Security

Bwin. Party Digital Entertainment Plc, formed by the merger of Party Poker and bwin in 2011, is valued at several billion dollars and quoted on the London Stock Exchange. Naturally, player funds are 100% safe and withdrawing money from a Party Poker account is quick and easy.

As industry standards dictate, a third-party verification of the card room’s random number generator (computerized card dealer) has been performed. A high level of encryption is used to communicate traffic for player data protection. In a word, Party Poker does an excellent job of allowing players to focus on the next hand of poker instead of having to worry about the safety of their gambling funds or personal data.

Party Poker Room Bonus
Party Poker likes to offer new players a warm welcome. With a player’s initial deposit Party Poker will match it dollar for dollar up to a maximum of $500. Unlike other sites where it can take hundreds of hands to clear the bonus, the welcome bonus from Party clears pretty fast. Party also offers occasional reload bonuses to existing players. Every time you refer a friend Party will give you $100, as long as they sign up and make a deposit. They aren’t left out either, as PP will give them $50 for signing up.

Tournaments
Party Poker is home to one of the best freeroll spreads online today. They have something for everyone, the tournaments are very popular and the play tends to be loose. The buy-ins for their great tournament schedule runs from $1 up to several hundred dollars. All week long at Party there are qualifiers for guaranteed tournaments. Like the weekly $300,000 tourney which a player can enter for $215 or for as little as $2 in a weekly qualifier. Party also runs a progressive Bad Beat Jackpot. A Bad Beat is when a player holding four eights or better loses, the jackpot increases by $1000 every hour.

Even though Party quit accepting US customers, they are still a strong stable online poker room. The software gets the job done and they offer a nice variety of games. Party Poker’s tournament schedule is superb; the list is too long to mention all of them. Let’s not forget their super signup bonus, a 100% match up to $500. Sounds pretty sweet! Check them out and take advantage of the two part bonus.
